It isn't right either,it sticks when re-assembling and thread is totally stuck in it when attempting to thread the tensioner is too tight and erratic when trying to select a tension. Do I need a new one? See photos

I seem to remember that her daughter has the FW. So now I'm wondering what the heck my MIL might have. (I go to her house tomorrow to check...).
(
Here's what she really had: a 'flip up' was a pristine two tone 301-A with attachments, in it's grass mat case. Not quite Minty. She told me she paid, $16 for it. Some wear on the case, and sharpie marker writing. The machine looks fine, except for a small wear spot on the tan coat where the case was rubbing the machine. NICE. I WANT IT.
Her 99k, she had in a plain 'farmer' table, previous owner had painted it dark brown. She scraped all the paint off... yuck. Machine had the pot motor. She had taken it to a flea market to sell. I saw that she marked it, $97 dollars! ( ). MIL said that a woman offered her $40 for and she replied "no way!" (MIL paid $25 for it at a thrift shop). Uh huh.
I told my DMIL, that the 99K wasn't a big ticket collectors item, that $40 was probably a bit high, and that the cabinet she couldn't get $5 for. SHE WAS NOT HAPPY WITH ME...
The 'green' machine was a 185J or something like that, peeling, not a happy machine. Old white plastic case, now yellowed. YUCK.
She dug out the "15-91". She swore up and down that that was what it was. I looked at the black leatherette case and said... "Mom, I can tell by the case it's not a 15-91. Let's get her out and open it up. As I expected, I opened it up and pulled out a BEAUTIFUL black 221 FW! I told her what it was, but she wasn't believing me. I told her the model number.... but she said, "But the book says..." (She had put an old 15-91 manual in with the machine.) She kept looking at me sideways, like I was pulling a fast one on her. There were attachments (that might not be the right ones), no manual, cord/plug in great shape. Had it's bobbin case in it. Very minor wear to decal in one spot only. MINTY. NICE. I REALLY WANT IT.
The rest of the machines were garbage singers. She must have had about 10 of them! I kid you not. She's got little plastic bags of singer attachments all stuck in the machines. She had straight needle attachments in with the slant, and I don't know what all with everything else. I gave up trying to figure it all out.
Okay...so remember how I told you she'd 'drive a hard bargain?' lol So at the end of my visit, I told her the truth about her FW and the others, what the going 'rates' were on them all. (I SHOULD have told her... oh yeah, I'll BUY that 15-91 from you for $49 like you wanted for the other!!! But NO, I was truthful!) I told her that I'd love to buy the FW and the 301 from her if she wanted to see them go to a good home. I did not even ASK that she should gift them to me. I'm the DIL, not the D.. so I know better. lol. She said, "well... maybe the 301. I don't want to sell the other."
grrr. lol. So I left... I still don't know if I'll get the slant from her or not. My guess is not. I'll never get that FW. She says she wants to give a machine to her granddaughter.... later on. I'd bet it will be that one.
Well... that's my sad report....

This is to funny, she couldn't get her tensioner on and I couldn't get mine off!! lol
There is a screw that is on the side of the machine that you can tighten and it will hold it in its place. If your looking at the machine like you are going to sew on it if you look under the arm on the right side of the tensioner you will see a small hole. That is where the screw is. Just take your finger and push the tensioner in and tighten the screw and your good to go!!

OH Ann!! I just want to cry over your white FW. I can imagine how disappointed you must be over this. I hope you can resolve it favorably.

Oh... I never want to get a machine shipped now... (except if Billy packs it!).

Billy, or anyone, what do you know about the Morse company, other than it was started by the man who started Toyota?
I found a beige, Morse Apollo 6400 in pristine shape - not a scratch, at a thrift store and wondering if it's worth buying.
It's in a sad looking cabinet, but the machine looks clean and new.

A Morse machine isn't listed in the smithsonian archives...and actually I found where a Morse Apollo 6200 is listed as a 1960s Japanese Singer knock-off made in a Toyota factory of all places. It was built for using TWO needles, so it has two different tensions. Getting the tension right for single needle sewing is a bit wacky til you figure that out. That's about all I could find out.
